Our mission
The charge of the Worship Committee is to work closely with the Rabbi to formulate strategies and plans for Shir Shalom worship services, festival celebrations and holiday observances. This includes maintaining traditions, administering activities, and coordinating logistics for all services and religious events.

Our mission
The Membership Committee develops and engage CSS’s membership to sustain a vibrant, solvent and multi-generational CSS community into the future. More specifically, the committee recommends annual membership goals to the Board of Directors and develops and implements a plan to achieve those membership goals. Additionally, the Membership Committee focal points are: publicity and communications, outreach, recruitment, welcoming new members, and facilitating retention.

Our mission
The Finance Committee oversees the organization's financial management, including staff or volunteers assigned to finance and accounting functions. The Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for action to ensure sound financial practices and to protect the short-term and long-term financial solvency of the organization. Responsibilities include reviewing annual operating and capital budgets and setting CSS’s investment goals and policies.

Our mission
The Governance and Nominating Committee reviews the governance structure of CSS and the organization’s Bylaws; it recommends revisions to the Board of Directors as needed. The Committee also ensures the appointment of qualified directors and officers to assist CSS to achieve its mission and goals. The Nominating Committee consists of two board members and three congregants.

The Security Committee endeavors to plan for security improvements to facilities used by CSS at the West Spain Street campus, and to recommend relevant security training for officers and members of the Congregation.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Our mission
The Communications committee is responsible for developing an overall communications and marketing strategy to engage members and non-members. It provides recommendations to the Board of Directors on communications policies. The committee’s charge is also to implement methods for CSS to communicate with its members and other interested parties, including CSS awareness in the greater Bay Area Jewish community. This committee works with other committees to produce effective communication materials and press releases about CSS to local media.

Our mission
The Chesed Committee is designed to provide assistance, support and comfort to our members and their families in times of need, especially in times of hardship, ill health and any other issue in which a helping hand could make a difference. The committee also develops outreach programs for CSS and engages the broader community on pressing social issues.

The Social Action Committee is anchored in the values of Judaism. It shall undertake and promote opportunities founded upon the principles of Gemilut Hasadim (good deeds) and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). We promote social justice and encourage action and advocacy. We are non-partisan and mindful that Congregation Shir Shalom welcomes a diverse membership.

The Sisterhood brings together women in a spirit of camaraderie to serve CSS and support our community—and each other. The goal is to enrich our lives through social events, education, spiritual programs, and fundraising. Members pay annual dues to participate.

The Men’s Club is charged to implement social and educational activities that encourage growth, challenge minds, build friendships and provide service to CSS and the Sonoma community. The goal is to create opportunities for real dialogue and self-expression leading to cohesive, trusting and lasting friendships that develop a genuine and meaningful attachment to the Shir Shalom community. Members pay annual dues to participate.
