The Shir Shalom Community Prays for Peace in the Land of Israel
Shir Shalom joins the people of Israel in celebrating the release of the remaining 20 living hostages. This moment has brought a mixture of gratitude, hope, grief, and a deep yearning for closure to the community. While the joy of seeing hostages freed is profound, the congregation awaits the return of the remains of the hostages whose lives were lost and holds on to the hope for a lasting peace agreement in the region.
In these challenging times, Shir Shalom’s thoughts and prayers are with both the people of Israel and the civilians in Gaza, and affirms that every individual in the region deserves the opportunity to live in harmony and pursue their lives free from fear.
The congregation remains steadfast in its commitment to the continued strength and vitality of the Jewish homeland, while also affirming that safety and the opportunity to live in peace are the right of everyone in the region who seeks it. The Shir Shalom community believes in the words expressed in Psalm 122:
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May those who you love be secure.”
